Staff Awards

The College of Business annually presents five awards, each with a specific set of criteria, to staff members. A committee, comprising former award recipients, reviews the nominations and submits recommendations to the dean, who makes the final determination. The award recipients are announced at the college’s annual faculty and staff banquet held in the spring semester.

Eligibility

Nominees must be full-time College of Business staff members. Nominees may be considered for any award, should another category be more appropriate.


Criteria

Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award

This is the highest award presented to a College of Business staff member. Each nomination must include details in support of the nominee that matches MVP award criteria. There must be at least three eligible individuals nominated in order for this award to be presented. Individuals may be nominated by College of Business faculty or staff members. Self-nominations are not allowed. The Staff Awards committee will prioritize specific nomination requests, but reserves the right to consider nominees for any of the available awards.


Eligibility

  • Nominees must be full-time staff members, who have been employed by the College of Business for a minimum of three years. Additional years of service at FSU do not count.

Criteria

Nominees for this award must:

  • Be exemplary and efficient in fulfilling their job responsibilities
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues
  • Demonstrate a servant leadership mentality
  • Possess strong leadership skills
  • Seek continuous growth and improvement as a professional
  • Carry out their job with integrity and dedication
  • Foster an atmosphere of cooperation and creativity among their peers

Emerging Leader Award

This award honors a staff member who has been in their position for less than three years. Each nomination must include details in support of the nominee that matches award criteria. This award category requires at least two eligible nominees for this award to be presented. Nominations may be made by College of Business faculty or staff members. Self-nominations are not allowed. The Staff Awards committee will prioritize specific nomination requests, but reserves the right to consider nominees for any of the available awards.


Eligibility

  • Nominees must be full-time staff members of the College of Business who have been in their position for less than three years.

Criteria

Nominees for this award must:

  • Excel in learning their job
  • Demonstrate initiative in their position
  • Be resourceful, adaptable, coachable and efficient
  • Exhibit excellent customer service
  • Be a valuable addition to their department/area

Esprit de Corps Award

This award is presented to a staff member who demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude, while promoting an environment of cheerfulness and camaraderie. Each nomination must include details in support of the nominee that matches criteria for the award. This award category requires at least two eligible nominees for this award to be presented. Nominations may be made by College of Business faculty or staff members. Self-nominations are not allowed. The Staff Awards committee will prioritize specific nomination requests, but reserves the right to consider nominees for any of the available awards.

Nominees for this award must:

  • Exhibit consistent pride, fellowship and loyalty
  • Uphold the college’s cultural traditions
  • Demonstrate respect for faculty, staff and students

  • Be committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace

Ingenuity Award

This award honors a staff member who is able to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to issues that affect their team, students, or the college as a whole. This is the person who is never willing to accept “because that’s the way we’ve always done it” for an answer. Each nomination must include details in support of the nominee that matches criteria for the award. This award category requires at least two eligible nominees for the award to be presented. Nominations may be made by College of Business faculty or staff members. Self-nominations are not allowed. The Staff Awards committee will prioritize specific nomination requests, but reserves the right to consider nominees for any of the available awards.

Extra Mile Award

This award honors a staff member who can always be counted upon to step in to help when needed due to staff shortage, extra workload or other team challenges. This person is always the first to ask, “How can I help?”. The Extra Mile Award nominee’s initiative and dedication to the mission of the college is an inspiration to the entire team. Each nomination must include details in support of the nominee that matches criteria for the award. This award category requires at least two eligible nominees for the award to be presented. Nominations may be made by College of Business faculty or staff members. Self-nominations are not allowed. The Staff Awards committee will prioritize specific nomination requests, but reserves the right to consider nominees for any of the available awards.

  • Go above and beyond their daily duties on a regular basis
